The Imperial Beach Girls Softball League holds Closing Ceremonies & Movie Night as the Girls now look forward to 2016 All-Stars and Tournament Play!

The Imperial Beach Girls Softball League wrapped up their 2016 Regular Season Saturday and help their Closing Ceremonies as well! The ceremonies were led by league President Matt McCoy, included "Thanking" everyone who helped make the season successful.

Chad Harbin and Jim Laccone received Imperial Beach Girls Softball Board of Directors Service Awards. This was given to them for the years of hard work and dedication  to Imperial Beach Girls Softball. They exemplified the IBGSB core values and ethics IBGSB has installed.   Matt "Thanked" the IB Girls Scout Troop 6116 for doing the Pledge of Allegiance , Jonathan  for the awesome Kettle Corn  Council Member Lori Bragg and ASA South San Diego Commissioner Mitch Seime for being our guest speakers. and Assistant South San Diego Commissioner Nicole Taylor  for taking the time to come out as well.

Matt also "thanked" the Board of Directors" who give so much of their time to ensure that the season is successful and that the girls have the best possible experience.

Matthew McCoy received the IBGSB Board of Directors Service Award which was very well deserved. He was greatly appreciative of receiving the award@

After receiving their trophy the girls had a Cake Walk and then watched a Movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks, together with the Imperial Beach Little League which was having a Movie Night as well. As it happened the Girls projector didn't work and the Little League jumped right in to help out. A+ for team work!

A Cake walk is a game to win a cake or desert. You have 13 numbers kids walk around to the music, when the music stops kids stop walking a number is picked if you are on the number you win a cake. It keeps going until all cakes or deserts are gone. Teams donate a cake or desert in order for it to be successful.

Up next for the Girls will be tournament play which is then followed by All-Stars. We will have information on that at the bottom of the article.

The Board of Directors for the Imperial Beach girls Softball League were:

Matt McCoy, President

Chad Harbin, Vice President

This is Matt McCoy's last year with the league as his daughter is now playing high school softball so he will be moving on. The League is currently voting on a new Board of Directors that will take office around the first of September.
Matt’s term does not end till August 25,2016 He will be involved with All Stars, GFL and preparing for the Fall Season. Matt will still be around even after his term is up. He will act as a consultant and guide the new Board of Directors as needed.  Matt loves the game and  everyone that is involved. He is excited for Imperial Beach Girls Softball and the direction it is going. Matthew will still be on Parks Committee until new  IBGSB Park Committee members are acclimated.

Will will be providing as much coverage of the IB Girls Softball League's Tournament and All-Star Play when the Tournaments begin up and will be announcing the All-Stars shortly after May 1st when they have their All-Star tryouts and the teams are chosen.
