Imperial Beach Weekend Fish Report from Alex Piña

Fridays fish report....large swell has kept the fish offshore not to many being caught of the pier this week a 7 gill shark was hooked last Monday but lost at the surface ..The broad nose seven gill has so far been found in the western Pacific Ocean off China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the eastern Pacific Ocean off Canada, United States and Chile, and the southern Atlantic Ocean off Argentina and South Africa. In San Francisco, California, it is significantly found in the San Francisco Bay particularly near the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island.[....a few smaller fish were caught in 10 15 ft. of water ..March brings us the Fred Hall outdoor fishing and boating show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds March 17-20 while on off time I have been painting fish on canvas here’s Mr. Coleman with a Big Bass from Otay Lakes circa 1980s the charter boats counts are..H&M 1/2 Day AM trip 20 anglers 162 Rockfish, 3 Sculpin,1 Sheepshead next month should be a lot better let’s hope water temps get higher and the yellowtail move in to the Coronado’s


Capt. Gavin called in saying that the Yellowtail are biting and they just landed a 50lb. Bluefin Tuna. First Bluefin Tuna of the year in February. Crazy!..
