Imperial Beach Fishing Report, February 5th by Alex Pina

Overall fishing still slow in Imperial Beach.
A few small calico bass and minimal perch action this week ...
The offshore fish counts are also low this week 13 rock fish on Seaforth's
3/4 day boat for 3 anglers

The best catches of February goes to a kayak fisherman 3 days ago off La Jolla kelp landing a 74 lb white sea bass;

For veteran kayak fisherman Brian Fagan, who calls himself a “fishing fool,” that almost
 became an issue last week when he landed a near-record white sea bass off La Jolla. Fagan, 56, is a resident of Poway and has logged more than 300 kayak trips to La Jolla
imperial beach is a location for white sea bass

White Sea Bass may be elusive but there are certain areas to concentrate your efforts that will improve your chances of landing one of these trophies. Obviously, the coastal shelf about four miles south of the border has been productive as noted, and is worth a careful look. Brightenburg holds the Imperial Beach - Tijuana Bullring area in high regard.

These are White Sea Bass landed off imperial beach this past year 2 large ones off the pier
Ruben & David IB locals landing a 60# White Sea Bass off the IB Flats this past summer landed on a dead large sardine..

2015 season was all time legendary Alex Pina with a deep water yellowtail he landed fishing 5 miles off mission beach
yellowtail are brutal fighters a 30 lb yellow tail fights like a 50 Lb yellow-fin tuna known for screaming deep water runs that fell like you cant stop them at times and once you do its all about craning them up.

IB local Kono Frank with a few yellows landed off the Coronado's this past summer
