City of Imperial Beach starts preparations for 60th Anniversary on July 18th. The City will be coming out with special anniversary shirts, hats and other collectibles to mark the 60th anniversary.

Imperial Beach's 60th Anniversary

1956 was a pretty good year. Elvis Presley appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show for the first time, Sony exported it's first Transistor Radio, and Prince Ranier of Monaco married Hollywood actress Grace Kelly, who became known as Princess Grace. If those bring fond memories for you, then you will really enjoy knowing that the City of Imperial Beach was incorporated in 1956. That means it's time to party for the most southwestern city in the United States turns 60!

We will be letting you know of some fun celebrations, and we particularly would like to hear from those who were here in 1956 and may have memories or memorabilia to share. Did you plant a tree that year, open a business, get married, or were you born? Let us know and we'll all party together!
