San Diego County Supervisor Greg Cox spoke to a large Audience today at Imperial
Beach Chamber of Commerce Networking Breakfast.  All the County Improvements going on in Imperial Beach were the lead topics of Interest!

Supervisor Cox has been a frequent visitor here to Imperial Beach with all the County Improvement Projects going on. Last week Supervisor Cox was here for the
Groundbreaking Ceremony for the $8.5 million Imperial Beach County Library being built and this week he was here already for the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Bikeway Village which will cater to the users of the nearby Bayshore Bikeway. have a fabulous view from the restaurant that will have a large outdoor deck with both formal and casual dining overlooking the wetlands and San Diego Bay.

The Bayshore Bikeway also played a role in the improvements being done on 13th Street. When they are done the bike path will have its own lane on both sides of the street and depending on the direction you are going will lead right into or right out of the Bayshore Bikeway and the Bikeway Village.

Said Supervisor Cox, "

  • The Bayshore Bikeway is a true gem of this region, and something I’ve been fortunate and proud to work on for many years. We are continuing to make great progress on the Bayshore Bikeway, and I believe that within the next 5 years, we’ll be able to complete the project."
Supervisor Cox went on to say, "Once Bikeway Village is completed, bicyclists will be able to ride the bikeway from Coronado or from San Diego and stop here for a break and get refreshments. From here, they will be able to enjoy the serenity and the views of the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Or maybe they will see local school children learning and playing at the Jonathan Sellers and Charlie Keever Outdoor Education Center."
Bikeway Village will truly be a unique haven for bicyclists, runners, walkers, tourists and families and children from around San Diego.

Afterwards Supervisor Cox took a few questions before the end of the meeting including a question about the recent pickup of flights coming in over Imperial Beach for landing at the airport in Tijuana, Mexico.

Although he didn't have the answer, he said he would look into it.
