The Pep Rally which started at 4pm at the Boys & Girls Club at the IB Sports Park was held in the gym and was packed until the football team had to leave at 4:30 to prepare for their games. However, the spirit continued on as the Mar Vista Cheers Squad was on hand to entertain and there was a raffle for various products donated by the sponsors.
A couple of the sponsors of the event were the IB Little League and the IB Girls Softball League. Presidents of both leagues, Don Spicer and Matt McCoy were at the event showing their support.
The Mayor showed up on the early side and was going to stay to watch the game. He was seen speaking with many of the crowd including Ken Blinsman and AAron Ruiz of the Boys and Girls Club of the South Bay who held the event.
The event was the idea of James de la Cerna, the Program director, for the Boys and Girls Club at the IB Sports Park. James has been very active in bringing new activities and events to the IB Sports Park and did an excellent job of putting this event together. James has to be back at the Sports Park at 8am for the Sports Park Exchange. the sports Park Exchange offers people the ability to bring in 5 pieces of canned food and trade it for sports equipment that was turned in during another recent drive co-sponsored by ESPN. After that James is continuing the event on as a straight food drive were people will be able to in and drop of canned food for the less fortunate now through December 21st.
Thank you all for all of the support!
