Mar Vista High School Boys and Girls Water Polo Teams Approaching Fundraising on Multiple Fronts Yields Results and September Wrap Up 2015
Mar Vista Water Polo faced a daunting challenge this year to replace broken equipment, pay for tournament fees and provide even small investments in the health and safety of the players. The approach was simple, try new ways to raise funds and reach out to the community through one-on-one meetings, social media, and a solid network of parents and volunteers. The team launched a GoFundMe campaign, hosted a Spaghetti dinner at the Fleet, and participated in parking events. As a result of strong community support, Mar Vista Water Polo has been able to raise enough funds to purchase critical equipment including shot clocks which cost nearly $3,400, a filter to provide clean drinking water during team practices, cones and other small equipment that has long been needed. Without the help of the Imperial Beach community, youth programs and kids would lack basic safety, health and athletic equipment. The coaches and players would like to thank parents, volunteers, sponsors, and donors for their support. Private donations were critical as were those of the below businesses located within Imperial Beach.
- Imperial Beach Family Dentistry
- Jim Mickelson, Realty Source
- Gary Trieschman, Pacific Realty
- Vons, Saturn Blvd.
