On Tuesday September 1st Mayor Serge Dedina signed a historic Friendship Agreement with Rosarito Mexico Mayor Silvano Abarca commencing a cross border friendship between the two cities sharing a common ocean and a growing tourist based economies.
Mayor Dedina guided Rosarito Officials on a tour of the Tijuana Estruary prior to arriving at the Dempsy Holder Safety Center for the agreement signing, reception, and networking between City Officials, Business Representatives, and Tourism Officials.
Mayor Dedina opened with remarks about the Friendship Agreement followed by Mexico Consul General Ms. Maria de los Remedios Gomez Arnau commenting on the relationship between the two cities. Concluding remarks were given by Rosarito Mayor Silvano Abarca about the importance of the Friendship Agreement and the civic improvement projects Rosarito is undertaking to make his City more accessible and welcoming to tourist from the U.S. and Mexico. The Mayors then signed the Friendship Agreement.
In attendance were officials of the Imperial Beach Chamber of Commerce/BID and Visitors Bureau, Rosarito Business Association and Tourism office, City Manager Andy Hall City, City officals from Imperial Beach and Rosarito, Representatives of Local, County, State, and Federal Elected Officials, U.S. Consulate General Tijuana's Office, along with members of Civic, Community, Nonprofits from both Countries.
