Pier South Contributes to IB Kiwanis Project for "Camp beyond the Scars" put on by the San Diego Burn Institute.

"Camp Beyond the Scars" is helping children, ages 5 to 17, who have survived a serious burn injury, permanent scarring, physical deformity and emotional trauma, which can linger well beyond the initial tragedy. The camp is a great way for kids to let their guard down and enjoy themselves as they experience camp with other burn victims. Brittany Herrin of SD Burn Institute was on hand at the Kiwanis Meeting to speak about the camp.

The goal of the Imperial Beach South Bay Kiwanis was to collect various types of toiletries and other items the children might need at camp such as Sun Screen.Their goal was to put together 80 bags for the campers

Thanks to donations by Pier South and the members of the Imperial Beach/South Bay Kiwanis, they put together 80 complete bags for the campers. Some members of the Imperial Beach Woman's Club and the Kiwanis put the bags together at today's Kiwanis meeting.

Pier South Resorts through their Sales & Marketing Director, Carin Martens, contributed 80 each of the following: toothpaste, toothbrushes and soaps and the IB Kiwanis wants to "Thank" them for their help.

Here is a list of some of the items the IB Kiwanis were collecting for the campers:

-Waterproof Sunscreen (no oil base), -Hand Sanitizer, -Toothbrush, -Tooth paste, -Soap, -loofa or (loofah) spelled both ways, -Shampoo/Conditioner , -Chap stick (with SPF), -Chap stick (with SPF)
