The Annual 4th of July IB Bike Parade has been Growing Every Year since Inception. Meets at MVHS at 8:30am and is Open to Public They will leave at 9am so be sure to be there by 8:30am. In another IB Newspaper they incorrectly had the time as 9am.
I spoke with Greg Hughes to get background on the Parade which started when the Sandcastle Parade got canceled 3 years ago. There is a Facebook Page were everyone interested can go and get and share information.
In speaking with Greg on who is heavily involved with the IB Bike Parade. Greg responded, “Well..Paul? I'm not really sure how much I can say because it's not my parade, so...? Most people who attend believe the parade is more a random meeting of citizens then an organized event (if you know what I mean)..? From what I know it started with the loss of our local parade due to cost. Most of which was on security. It's everyone s chance to be the grand marshal of their own parade. I personally feel it's an attitude of "we can do this without help”. But everyone thinks differently one thing is constant it's full of American pride and IB family fun. Our Sand Castles weekend started with a pancake breakfast, so my wife and I tried to keep that idea going with doing one at our house. We served over 150 plates last year. All of the cost comes from participants donations. There is a Facebook page: “IB Bike Parade”. And videos on YouTube.”
Information on the Facebook Page can be found here: IB Bike Parade (Facebook).
The page is for everyone that wants to participate in the celebration of our awesome 4th of July bike parade! Please feel free to post pictures, or videos. We want everyone to join in our fun, so invite your friends to this page and promote our down home American pride festivities!! The more the merrier!
