"Socks for Stand Down" was held today at the IB Boys & Girls Club in Imperial Beach. Program is designed to raise socks for our Homeless Veterans. The event took place all across the country today and is part of a larger program that helps out homeless veterans.

The event was held today at the Imperial Beach Boys and Girls Club at 847 Encina Avenue and took place from 9am to 11am. During that time there was a slow but constant stream of local citizens dropping of socks to help out.

The Mayor of Imperial Beach, Serge Dedina and Assembly Speaker Toni G Atkins were on hand during the event and spent time speaking with and thanking the people who stopped by.

KUSI Reporter Allie Wagner was on hand as well to cover the event for KUSI TV.
The event locally was organized with the help of workers from Assembly Speaker Atkins office and members of the Imperial Beach Boys & Girls Club and other volunteers.

Other notables on hand besides the Mayor and Speaker were: Chevelle Newell & Jennifer Vigil from Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins office and Aaron Ruiz and Ken Blinsman from the Imperial Beach Boys and Girls Club.
