Thrivent Financial partners with Habitat for Humanity to improve a San Diego neighborhood

IMPERIAL BEACH – Thrivent Financial and San Diego Habitat for Humanity will host an event to help homeowners upgrade their homes and neighborhood through a unique partnership program called Thrivent Builds Repairs as part of San Diego Habitat for Humanity’s Neighborhood Revitalization Program.  The Neighborhood Revitalization program’s vision is to transform communities into vibrant, safe and inviting places to live for current and future residents in which to thrive.  Habitat responds to community aspirations with an expanded array of products, services and partnerships, empowering residents to revive their neighborhoods and enhance their quality of life.

Community volunteers, Thrivent Financial representatives, Jess Reimnitz, and San Diego Habitat leaders will come together on June 13th at the home site on 923 Emory Street to put a fresh new coat of paint on the exterior of the house, build a new fence and install new low water use landscaping in the front yard. If community members would like learn more about this program, how they might qualify or how they can help, please contact Anne Marie Conte at (619) 283-4663 ext. 128, or come meet us in the community at this event.

Thrivent Builds Repairs upgrades existing homes through projects like installing accessibility ramps, exterior painting, weatherization, porch repair or light landscaping. The program is part of an ongoing partnership between Thrivent Financial and Habitat for Humanity International and their local affiliates, called Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity.  From the national partnership’s inception in 2005, Thrivent Financial and its members have now committed more than $200 million and more than 4 million volunteer hours.

Thrivent Financial’s relationship with Habitat for Humanity brings the financial, volunteer and advocacy resources of Thrivent Financial together with the affordable housing construction leadership of hundreds of local Habitat for Humanity affiliates. Monique Gallery a Community Engagement Leader with Thrivent Financial said: “This program provides us with more options to serve our community. Upgrading existing homes not only makes the homes safer and more efficient, it also cultivates community pride.”

“The Thrivent Builds partnership is helping San Diego Habitat increase the number of families served in our community by helping home owners stay in their homes,” said Anne Marie Conte Neighborhood Revitalization Program Manager. “We are so grateful for Thrivent’s support of our efforts to build homes and repair homes in partnership with families in need of decent and affordable housing.”
