"Remembering Our Fallen Heroes" SFC David E. Metzger and SGT James M. Trebor, former IB Residents.

We've just passed Memorial Day, when many families enjoy a day at the beach. However, two Imperial Beach families commemorated the true meaning of Memorial Day... honoring their family member who made the ultimate sacrifice. At the May 20 meeting of the Imperial Beach City Council, proclamations for "Remembering Our Fallen Heroes" SFC David E. Metzger and SGT James M. Trebor, former Imperial Beach residents, were presented to family members by Mayor Serge Dedina. Both were graduates of Mar Vista High School.

You are invited to sign memory books for Metzger and Trebor at City Hall, which will be given to their families. Whether you knew them, or not, it is appropriate for you to visit the Building and Planning Department counter and sign the books. For younger family members, it may be a good teaching moment to accompany you, and visit the memorial display in the City Hall foyer, as a way to help them understand the importance of this holiday. Let their families know you appreciate their sacrifice. If you are a veteran, your comments may be particularly meaningful, so please stop by and sign the books.

City Hall is closed every other Friday, but is otherwise open every day from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
