Mayor Dedina, Assembly Speaker Atkins and Volunteers showed up lasts Saturday for IB Bay Shoreline Cleanup

On Saturday, February 21, Imperial Beach Mayor Dedina, State Assembly Speaker, Toni G. Atkins, joined WILDCOAST, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Girl Scouts, Mar Vista High School students and community volunteers to clean up the South San Diego Bay shoreline in Imperial Beach at the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge.  The event started at 9:30 am at 7th St. and Boulevard Avenue Imperial Beach, CA 91932. 

They had about 60 people total and removed about 1,000 lbs of invasive species and iceplant. 

The cleanup is part of an ongoing initiative to enhance and restore habitat and recreational opportunities on the South San Diego Bay and Imperial Beach shorelines.  Speaker Atkins will be recognizing the efforts of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Mar Vista Poseidon Academy for their dedication to help conserve our beautiful coastal ecosystems.

WILDCOAST is an international conservation team that conserves coastal and marine ecosystems and wildlife.
