Camila Vega of Mendoza Elementary is Imperial Beach Kiwanis “Student of the Month”.

The Kiwanis Club of Imperial Beach-South Bay Honors SBUSD Student of the Month, Camila Vega, from Mendoza Elementary School.

Camila’s teacher Mrs Berney Smith says Camila is a great student. One that every teacher dreams to have in their class. She pays attention, asks questions, and turns in her classwork assignments on time and homework is always completed. She is a good leader in a group and friends with all her classmates.

Camila is joined by teacher Mrs Berney Smith, her family, and Principal Don Visnick at the Kiwanis meeting held at the Boys and Girls Club of Imperial Beach on Encino Avenue. 

Congratulations to Camila for being the Student of the Month!

About the “Student of the Month Award” that the Imperial Beach Kiwanis give out. The Student of the Month is nominated by his or her teacher. The winner is chosen in recognition of his/her academic excellence, great effort, and willingness to work hard.  As Student of the Month, they attend the next Kiwanis meeting with their family, teacher and school principal were they receive an award certificate, have their picture taken with their family, teacher, principal and a member of the Kiwanis. They also receive $25 to go into a savings account for college. They donated around 40 books to the SBUSD Elementary to go in their Library for students to read or classes, signed in recognition of those speaking at their Meetings, and Students of the Month.
