IB’s latest “Rising Stars” is the oldest Organization in IB. The Imperial Beach Woman’s Club (IBWC), is a Group of Hard Working Women that make our Community better for all of us!

Tuesday night, February 9th, at the “State of the City and Community Awards Celebration” lead by Imperial Beach Mayor, Serge Dedina, the Imperial Beach Woman’s Club (IBWC) received an award for their community service. The award was presented to them by Councilwoman Lorie Bragg. However, the IBWC has been “Stars” in Imperial Beach since their inception. They are IB”s oldest service organization and heavily involved in the community of Imperial Beach.

The Imperial Beach Woman's Club helped lots of organizations in our community. Here is were just some of their help went to: Imperial Beach Library - Donation, Mar Vista HS Band - Donation, Mar Vista Middle School Band - Donation, SBUSD So Bay Music Club - Donation, IB Jr. Lifeguards - Donation, Girl Scout Troop #5447 - Donation, Girl Scout Troop #5957 - Donation, Serving Seniors (St. Charles) - Donation, Balboa Park Committee of 100 - Donation, VIP Village - Donation, Art Kids of San Diego - Donation, Imperial Beach Senior Center - Donation, Pearl Kelly - Christmas Trees, Imperial Beach Chamber of Commerce (Santa comes to IB).

This included: 4 -  $500 scholarships to our high schools, donation to the kids going to the Freedom Foundation in DC, they purchased chairs for the IB Senior Center, purchased a bench for Veterans Park, and they bought the IB Fire Dept. a BBQ.

Congratulations to a great group of woman!

As you can see, this is an incredible group of giving woman. The Imperial Beach Woman's Club are truly "Stars" of Imperial Beach and should be recognized for all of their giving to others and making our community a better place.

Thank you for the article about the IBWC however I would like to point out that one lady "Donna Moore" is one of our most valuable members. She is our Fundraiser and has done an excellent job the last 3 years in helping get the funds necessary to keep the IBWC able to continue their work. She is the one person who comes up with the ideas and goes out to the businesses and asks for donations. Without Donna Moore the IBWC would not be as successful as it has been the last few years. She is our MVP. Marirose Fernandez

This includes, but not limited to, parents, teachers, coaches, public officials and citizens from the City of Imperial Beach and we thank them all for what they do. If you have a special star who is deserving, feel free to submit an article on them to
