The Imperial Beach Kiwanis Award Two “Students of the Month” at its Meeting Today!

The Imperial Beach Kiwanis had two “Student of the Month” winners this month.

Marissa Trillo from Imperial Beach Charter School and Azul Marmolejo from Nestor Language Academy Charter were awarded "Student of the Month" by the IB Kiwanis at their meeting today. 

They were joined by their family, teacher and principals at the award ceremony at the Kiwanis bi-monthly meeting.

(1) Marissa Trillo - Imperial Beach Charter School

Ms. Elena Medina, Marissa's teacher, writes that Marissa always tries her best, is kind to others, and strives for excellence. She volunteers to help with special education students, and outside of school she helps feed the homeless and works with orphan children in Tijuana. Additionally she is a member of the safety patrol.




(2) Azul Marmolejo - Nestor Language Academy Charter

Azuls' teacher, G. Nakano, writes, Azul always pays attention in class and takes time to help others. Azul is respectful, considerate towards others. She is dedicated, hardworking, and demonstrates a great sense o responsibility. She is a pleasure to have in class.

About the “Student of the Month Award” that the Imperial Beach Kiwanis give out. The Student of the Month is nominated by his or her teacher. The winner is chosen in recognition of his/her academic excellence, great effort, and willingness to work hard.  As Student of the Month, they attend the next Kiwanis meeting with their family, teacher and school principal were they receive an award certificate, have their picture taken with their family, teacher, principal and a member of the Kiwanis. They also receive $25 to go into a savings account for college. They donated around 40 books to the SBUSD Elementary to go in their Library for students to read or classes, signed in recognition of those speaking at their Meetings, and Students of the Month.
