With the vote count not changing in days and no more ballots seemingly being left to count, Serge Dedina would appear to be the next mayor of Imperial Beach by a margin of 42 votes. It was a tightly fought election going down to the very end with the lead changing several times until Serge Dedina pulled a head with a small lead that seems to grow by a few votes every day. No election is officially certified until December 2nd, by the Registrar of Voters. Per Serge Dedina, it is statistically unlikely or improbable that the outcome will change.
Here is a letter he mailed out to the voters of Imperial Beach this morning:

Yesterday evening I announced that I have won the Imperial Beach Mayoral race. While the Registrar of Voters doesn't certify the election until December 2nd, it is statistically unlikely or improbable that the outcome will change.
The campaign was the most rewarding experience of my life. I got to know my hometown really well and made a lot of new friends. And it only reaffirmed my belief that Imperial Beach is a beautiful, friendly, and very diverse blue-collar beach town.
Now I look forward to bringing our community together to improve the quality of life for all in every every neighborhood of Imperial Beach and working with council members to expand the involvement of residents in city government and make city hall more resident and business friendly.
So thank you for your support for our positive grassroots campaign that emphasized the need to invest in our kids, our families and our community.
My best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving.
