Oneonta Elementary School to host Award Ceremony!
Imperial Beach, CA – The South Bay Union School District has been selected to receive a $10,000 “Hometown Grant” from the San Diego Chargers and the California Milk Advisory Board (CMAB) to support healthy lifestyles throughout the district. The “Hometown Grant” program was developed by Fuel Up to Play 60 and the NFL to provide deserving schools with funds to help meet health and wellness goals.
On Tuesday, October 7 at 10:00 A.M., representatives from the Chargers, including players Nick Novak, Kendall Reyes, and Darrell Stuckey, and the California Milk Advisory Board will present the grant to the district at Oneonta Elementary School (1311 Tenth Street, Imperial Beach). Oneonta Principal Marla Fernandez said, “We are very excited to welcome the Chargers to our campus and to celebrate good health among our students and community.”
Superintendent Katie McNamara shared her thoughts, “SBUSD is honored to be presented with this grant and the opportunity to further strengthen our district’s wellness and physical activity programming for our more than 8,400 students.”
